Nope, not this year either. I’ve never and will never jump on this phenomenon which only seems to grow. Many companies run Black Friday for a whole month, and if that’s not enough there’s also Cyber Monday and Single Tuesday.
I think it’s unethical to run these campaigns, as they create a consumption frenzy with negative buying behaviors. It’s so easy to get carried away, believing you’re making a super deal, and it’s just as easy buying things you don’t need, as well as buying things you never intended to buy in the first place.
This phenomenon feels outdated, it goes against our core values, and it’s simply not sustainable. It’s very negative on the climate and the sustainability efforts going on across the globe. Nope, less is more in this case!
In general, as a customer during these campaigns, it’s crucial to keep track of prices on the products you are interested in buying, a long time in advance if you want to make a bargain. Cheating by displaying different ”regular” prices is unfortunately quite common. More on this below.
As a customer at MoM of Sweden, you can rely on the fact that our products have a fixed price. This is what they cost, and you will get a beautiful, durable, and sustainable piece of silver jewelry, and both good and friendly service.
It’s only by subscribing to our newsletter that you’ll get special offers, discounts, and information in the rare case a product will be discontinued.
On the topic of cheating with regular price information, there is a new law in Sweden called Prisinformationslagen. A company that has lowered the price of an item must be able to display the lowest price for this particular item during the last 30 days. This has in turn led to many companies increasing the price during October, and in 2018 every third online product had a price increase. In 2019, this could be noted already in September as well, meaning well ahead of the 30-day window before Black Friday in November.
This is misguiding, to say the least, and I believe that the 30-day window should be increased to three months.
